Kako je Ribničan pri spovedi dobil odvezo?
Nekoč je šel Ribničan h kapucinu (vrsta frančiškanov) k spovedi, da bi se izpovedal, da je ukradel konja. Odveze ni dobil. Spovednik je imel zelo dolgo brado (kot jo imajo vsi kapucini), Ribničan je bil pa zelo iznajdljiv. Medtem ko je trajala spoved, je k lini v spovednici zavezal spovednikovo dolgo brado in rekel: »Zdaj pa, če vi nočete mene greha odvezati, pa tudi jaz vas ne bom odvezal.« Kaj je hotel kapucin, kakor da je Ribničanu greh odvezal, saj ni mogel ves čas privezan sedeti v spovednici.
A Pack Peddler from Ribnica and His Absolution
A pack peddler from Ribnica once went to confession to a Capuchin friar (some kind of a Franciscan) to confess that he had stolen a horse. He received no absolution. The confessor had a very long beard (much like all Capuchins) and the resourceful peddler used this to his advantage. During the confession, he tied the man’s long beard to the latticed opening in the confessional and said: “Now, if you refuse to absolve me of the sin, I won’t release you from the confessional.” The Capuchin friar had no other choice but to grant the peddler absolution unless he wanted to be left there.
